Deir el-Medina
Director General’s word

An ancient village on the outskirts of Valley of the Kings in Egypt‘s Luxor where nearly 800 artists and workmen once lived, will take our young audience back in time, to captivate and inspire their minds on a journey through the ancient Egypt history, excavation and archaeology.

Our educational and interactive exhibition, “Deir el-Medina: Village of Pharaohs’ artists”, at Sharjah Archaeology Museum is organized in cooperation with the Egyptian Museum in Turin, and promises our young visitors a truly unique experience.

The archaeological excavation of the site Deir el-Medina (Luxor, Egypt) by the Italian Expedition of the Museo Egizio (Turin, Italy) in 1905 brought to the light the amazingly well preserved village of the artists that produced the awe-inspiring tombs of the Pharaohs and Queens of ancient Egypt. The exhibition takes us back to this archaeological exploration and to the world of the ancient Egyptian civilization.
